Liga MB Round 2: Chalchuapa lose to Brujos- March 17, 2022
There were only 2 rounds played so far and it's still very beginning of the Regular Season in Liga MB. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.
Brujos - Chalchuapa 126-110 The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Chalchuapa in Izalco on Tuesday night. Visitors were defeated by Brujos 126-110. Brujos dominated down low during the game scoring 80 of its points in the paint compared to Chalchuapa's 52. They outrebounded Chalchuapa 41-28 including 29 on the defensive glass. Brujos looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Dominican forward Xavier de la Rosa (196-1991) scored 45 points (!!!) to lead the charge for the winners and center Teodoro Romero (202-1985) chipped in 22 points and 12 rebounds (perfect from the field making all nine shots !!!) during the contest. Five Brujos players scored in double figures. American forward Jose Ortiz (190-1990, college: DelVal) responded with 43 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds and Mario Gonzalez (183-1994) scored 31 points and 6 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Brujos will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Chalchuapa will play at home against Nejapa and it may be a tough game between close rivals. It was a great shooting night for Santa Tecla especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 69.2 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. Dominican guard Jose Liriano (189-1998) notched a double-double by scoring 30 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and Colombian Michaell Jackson (190-1987) supported him with 25 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Santa Tecla's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 35 points (!!!), 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals by Panamanian Jonathan King (193-1990, college: ACU) did not help to save the game for Santa Ana. American swingman Dartavious Young (201-1995, college: Everett CC) added 14 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Santa Tecla will play against Fantasmas in San Vicente in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Santa Ana will have a break next round. Even 14 points and 4 steals by forward Jefferson Torres (200-2001) did not help to save the game for Cojute. Forward Nestor Avalos (182-1996) added 8 points and 6 assists for the guests. Cojute's coach rotated fourteen players in this game, but that didn't help. Fantasmas will play against Santa Tecla on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Roberto Martinez notched a double-double by scoring 27 points and 14 assists to lead the effort and American center Marc Montavious (206-1990, college: Georgetown, KY) supported him with 28 points and 9 rebounds (perfect from the field making all eleven shots !!!). Even a double-double of 33 points (!!!), 22 rebounds and 4 assists by American Marcus Faison (196-1994, college: Salem St.) did not help to save the game for Nejapa. His fellow American import guard Eli Sample (193-1993, college: SEMO) added 20 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures.
